THE SPACE

Situated in Chiado, between “Carmo” and “Trindade”, in the nr 29 of
Lg.Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro, the Royale reveals a mixed bag of influences:

French in the name and welcoming awning: Scandinavian in the design; and Mediterranean in the verdant orange tree in the courtyard.

It was in Denmark that Ana Faro and Diogo Coelho discovered the charming of Northern Europe cafés and joined the antique and Portuguese typical features with Danish contemporary design pieces.

The wallpaper, the crystal chandelier and the Louis Poulsen Lamp stand out. But a closer look notices the “chita” pillows, the Portuguese faience, the ornaments on the walls and ceiling, and the orange tree peeking out from the exterior.

The space is ample: Anyone entering to drink coffee stays in the first room; a huge wall mirror makes the connection to the second room, the space for having meals by excellence where the ambience is cosier. The wallpaper gives the tone, the homemade products standing in the lioz stone counter, “reminding the old taverns”, culminates in the sunny courtyard which invites to long chat afternoons.
